Job Description

General:
The Mechanical Maintenance Fitter is responsible for planning and carrying out Preventative Planned Maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs of all plant within the Kirkby Oil/Water Treatment Plant and Hazardous Waste Transfer Station.

Main Duties:
➢ To carry out routine/preventative and reactive maintenance on all mechanical aspects of the plant in a safe and efficient manner.
➢ Respond to plant breakdowns by ensuring that PPM is carried out, reducing downtime.
➢ Ensure that all works are carried out to a high standard as expected on a Food plant.
➢ Basic fabrication skills including small welding tasks.
➢ Ensure all H&S (Health and Safety) procedures are adhered to including Permit to Work.
➢ Create maintain & enhance effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
➢ Assist in the preparation of RAMS, necessary to carry out each task.

General H&S Responsibilities:
➢ Comply with Health & Safety requirements: as per training, policies, procedures, risk assessments, method statements, safe systems of work etc.
➢ Actively seek to improve safety culture.
➢ Report any H&S issues/accidents/near misses to your line manager

immediately. Other General Responsibilities:
➢ Attend training as required to maintain personal qualification/competence.
➢ Comply with the Company Equal Opportunities Policy and promote equality.
➢ Any other duties as required by line management, commensurate with the post holder’s level of training and competence.
